Illinois Tourism Poster - Locher Autographed
A spectacular large Dick Tracy tourism poster commissioned by the State of Illinois Tourism Council in 2006. It features a dramatic image of Dick Tracy, in his trademark yellow fedora and coat, talking on his 2-way wrist radio. It was drawn by Pulitzer prize-winning artist Dick Locher, the Chicago Tribune’s Dick Tracy artist, and has been autographed by Mr. Locher.
The title is "Not All Heroes Wear Tights." A caption at the bottom states "Home of the Dick Tracy Museum Woodstock Illinois .” A small logo on the bottom features the Dick Tracy name, profile and a blue circle with "75 Years of Fighting Crime." It helped commemorate the 75th anniversary of Chester Gould’s famed detective, which first appeared in 1931. The posters were produced by Tribune Media Services and the McCann-Erickson ad agency in a series for the promotion of unique visitor destinations in Illinois. They were displayed in airports, train and bus stations, transportation kiosks and visitor sites throughout the State. It is a striking view of Chester Gould's American icon. This is one of a limited edition and rarely available large size poster.
On heavy white parchment-style paper, the full size is 24” X 36” and the image size is 21 ½” X 34." Only three copies are available for sale. There will be no more offered after these are sold.
